LA River, Kent and rain //

Today I woke up at 12. Lately I have been waking up late on the weekends. It is so nice but I kind of feel like I am wasting the weekends. I keep telling myself that I need the sleep (that makes me feel better about waking up late). Well, anyway, woke up late. Got out of bed and took a shower. Called my mom and wished her Happy Birthday since today is her birthday! Chatted with her for a while and checked what was going on in Sweden with her and my brothers who had visited her all day.
After my phone call I looked out the window. Rain… Rain?! Wow, crazy. Ok, so no surf today then. I had just put new wax on my board yesterday in the sun on the patio in front of my house. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait a while to use it now.
Went for breakfast with Mattias and John at Cafe Buna. The food is so good there and the service is so so bad.
After breakfast Mattias and I went to the Museum of Contemporary art (MOCA) in downtown LA. we were going to see the Murakami exhibit. The only problem was that when we arrived at the MOCA the line was so long and not moving that we decided to give up. Instead we went next door to a Japanese museum that had a Giant Robot exhibit. It was pretty cool.
We had both brought cameras so after the museum we just looked around and decided on a direction that we hadn't been and drove that way.
I love exploring like that. We drove south east of downtown into a sketchy area of storage buildings and industries. It was kind of a strange place that didn't feel very safe at all. I thought to myself that this would be a cool area to take someone to take pictures of. Right after I had finished that thought we drove by 3 different photo shoots haha. So funny.
We passed the LA River, which totally isn't a river. I think it is so funny that they call it that. It should be called the LA Storm Drain or something like that haha. I mean, look at the image at the top. River?!? Come on. Haha.
Anyway, we saw some people wearing black and tagging the side of the “river”. It didn't take the police long to get there after they had started.
We kept driving through areas south of downtown. Not really a place where you would want to stop and get out of the car. So we didn't, we just drove around exploring and listened to the swedish band Kent's new album.
I love exploring randomly with the car. I think I'll start doing a lot more of that in the future.
